Local Area
Aubusson is a very ancient town and is the home of the famous Aubusson
Tapestry’s started in the 1600’s but brought to the area by the Saracens. Visit the museum and during the summer months the many different exhibitions and tours around the various workshops.

A short drive away is ‘Le Lac de Vassiviére’ one of the largest
man made lakes in Europe, being 30 miles in circumference. Here there are many watersports to try, safe swimming and a clean sandy beach for children to play on.
On the other side of Guéret
is Le Loups de Chabriéres a natural wolf wild life park. It was opened in 1991 to show the wolves that roamed mainland Europe and for people to understand their natural habitat.
Not far from Limoges lies
Oradour
sur Glane the remains of a small French town , now
a monument to the massacre that took place there on the 10
June 1944 .
For motorcyclists the area is a
dream , hundreds of miles of twisty country roads free of speed
cameras, speed bumps and other traffic. just the occasional cow!
You will drive for miles then come across a perfectly groomed
village with a local bar or restaurant or a huge lake ideal
for a picnic. Head towards Clermont-Ferrand and ride
through the "Puy de Dome" volcano area in the Auvergne taking in the
Vulcania theme and leisure
park.
For the more adventurous, find a woodland trail which will
take you off road , often for tens of kms before you hit
tarmac again, all of these you can ride legally! The Limousin
area is one of the most undiscovered areas for
bikers and holidaymakers in France.
Fishing seems to be a national pastime in the Limousin
– which is known as the land of a thousand lakes – many of which
are open to the public on a daily rate.

Ten minutes away is ‘Le Mas du Clos’, privately owned race circuit. For all classes of racing, two, three, or four wheels and set in some of the most beautiful countryside in France. 3.1 kilometres in length, with all types of turns and straights. Check out the web-site
